Il Principio - The Principle

Each of us possesses the truth, then undertakes his endless journey to know the truth. This is the essence of feeling, the light of existence. This is the path that in every step of the dream leads us from having the truth to being the truth.

A mio padre - For my father

A mio padre.

Grazie.

--------

For my father.

Emotions are the hand of the soul reaching into the waters of this life of ours and its movement is what we feel deep inside.

Beyond the shiny surface of this mirror of gentle waves, there, father and friend, I will recognise the face whose smile still guides my hands inside these tears.

Thank you.

--------

We do not need to find cures for diseases as much as we need to prevent them. Unfortunately, it is much more convenient to invest in finding the cure if you want to continue selling the cause.

Lo spettacolo magico - The magical show

--------

You used to love this show, you had butterflies in your stomach each time you knew I was going to take you to see it. But now you've seen that it's just coloured lights and cardboard shapes, you've seen the actors take their make up off, you've seen what's behind the scenes when the curtains close. You've learnt that what you truly loved about this show was what you used to put into it, it was your fantasy that made it magical. Now your heart seems to beat a little less loud than before. I might fly away with your lost butterflies, away, to be thin air in the sky.

Specchio nero - Black mirror

--------

We extend root-like branches towards every shiny reflection, we sink them thirstily within ourselves, creating monstrous confused patterns, ever-growing, more and more frantic, lines growing thinner that project our misunderstood nature.

Il dolore conosciuto - The known pain

--------

There is a form of silent calm in known pain which is not going to last, a delicate and perfect balance that is similar to an announcement of an art exhibition forgotten on a table before the wind throws the window open.

Patterns - Modelli

Like flames of emotion
Made music out of the entire world
And died melting into words

La persistenza delle cicatrici - The persitence of scars

--------

One of the reasons why, in general, the consequences of pain are perceived to be more persistent than the consequences of pleasure lies in the fact that when we are in pain we tend to react actively in order to change such condition, unlike what happens in a condition of pleasure.
Yet the absence of scars is usually much more persistent than their presence.

Sharp filaments of entangled thoughts - Filamenti affilati di pensieri intrecciati

Floating between razor sharp filaments of entangled thoughts, smiling at the illusion of bleeding, dissipating confusion with each wound, dissolving in a red mosaic, surrounded by dancing tiles of my own self, as I become the web, from dreamer to dream.

--------

A nightmare disguised as a dream - Un incubo travestito da sogno

A nightmare, cleverly disguised, wearing a dream's clothes, telling a lie that fits reality so perfectly it's now hard to distinguish it from the truth, gently and seamlessly laying a veil on my eyes, or maybe removing one, and now I see everything so differently.

--------

Come si vive veramente - How to truly live

--------

Do not forget the pure bright shapes of a smile in the light of the late morning, the warm light of a summer noon that flows between spikes of ripe wheat, while you lay down and watch fresh blades of grass caress the colour of the sky, and that dream of crystalline dew that melts in the warmth of a desire, the scent of its memory that walks on your skin like unexpected fingers that gently touch, a clear wind that sings the beauty of the thousand lovers whose silence it carries, and the tears of rain that remind you of the loneliness of your own skin, the frailty of events and the wonder of each birth. Do not forget any step, especially when you're happy. And love, my friend, love foolishly without fears of tomorrow, and teach to that part of you which would like to teach you its experience, how to truly live.

A stolen fleeting kiss

A stolen fleeting kiss,
A summer storm's warm bliss
A rushing river's chant
That lingers on thy lips

A soft deep blooming light
A stolen heartbeat's life
A promise left unsaid
In hidden fingers' graze

As dancing words are born
Like rain so crystalline

They lilt and swoon so gently
To the melody in your eyes

Come un cattivo prestigiatore - Like a bad magician

--------

Like a bad magician I end up revealing the secrets to my most amazing tricks and break the spell.

When I was asked what I meant and if I was okay, I replied that I often live in an inner world of tales that do not have to do with my outer life, I create stories, characters and thoughts that do not necessarily reflect my state of mind, thus confirming what I wrote, seen that by explaining the origin of my thought I had broken the spell that through mystery led people to worry. Or was this the real trick?

Really - Davvero

Preferisco sbagliare - I'd rather make mistakes

Una scena in bianco e nero - A scene in black and white

I treni cominciano a muoversi in opposte direzioni, lentamente.

--------

A scene in black and white. Only they are in colour. They hold hands, leaning from the windows of two trains side by side. They look at each other in silence. The trains begin to move in opposite directions, slowly. It's an interminable moment, heartbreakingly beautiful, while their fingers are now barely able to touch.

Il mondo non appartiene all'umanità - The world doesn't belong to mankind

--------

The world doesn't belong to mankind, it's mankind that belongs to the world. Land does not depend on man, it is man that depends on it.

Ogni dolore del nostro mondo - Every pain in our world

--------

How curious we are when rather than admit the humanity of what makes us really suffer we summon every pain in our world so that we can blame it instead.

When yesterday's sky rains on today's world

--------

You're just an accessory, a bite that barely soothes my hunger, a tasteless drop that does not change my thirst. You can't even take the first step inside, but still I want to see you try, face the frenzy dance, the spiral of darkness and light, amaze me with the vastness of your world, crush me with its unexpected weight, make me feel the pain and pleasure, take me back to where I belong, feed your soul to my lust, make me shudder and tremble, make me cry and growl, make me bleed on the ashes of time, you, the ocean, me a dark river to drown in.
When yesterday's sky rains on today's world my thoughts are mixed together melting with my emotions.

Poesia d'autunno - Autumn poem

--------

In the evening breeze of a warm autumn that plays its melody on blood leaves which are caressed by a sun dipped in the horizon in which it slowly loses its heat, I have found a poem of death and beauty whose silence is the mystery without memories of the time before birth.

Dramma personale - Private drama

--------

Each one of us follows and cherishes his own private drama, to feel alive, to be special, to have something to tell, may it be real or invented, because it is us who make it real, who gives it the power to hurt.

Maybe somebody doesn't, for a different choice between being and being shallow, but as obvious it may seem, it's not obvious which one it is.

Sunday 12 February 2012

Amore - Love

--------

Love is not an emotion, it's not a state of mind, though it leads to many, it's neither good nor bad, for good and bad are illusions, it's neither pleasure nor pain, even if it beckons both. Love is neither selfish nor selfless, though it shows both faces. It's not the delusion in the beautiful words of the greatest fools that have ever lived, it's not the moment of silence before the most desired of kisses, though it has found home in those words and deeply dreamt in that silence. You can see its reflection in the fragments of your shattered certainties, in the shame painted memories of actions that seem so foolish, while secretly you ask yourself if that person you were was more alive than you are now, while you judge it driven by a hidden fear. Oh how beautiful is the expression on a face when you can not judge if it's pleasure or pain that you are staring at, oh how amazing is the breathtaking moment of doubt when you don't know if what you are hearing is somebody laughing or somebody crying. Love is life's brother, love is life's son, it's life's mother and father, they walk hand in hand, 'cause love is life's lover, they fight and embrace and dance with each other, they shout and they cry, and laugh each other's tears, they share the same dreams and the opposite fears. What is love, what is love, it is nothing but you, my dear.

"Ti amo", disse a bassa voce.

--------

"Please don't leave" she said. He turned around, took her hand, gently, like if he wanted to explain the gesture in the act of doing it, and looked at her, smiling like one smiles to a child whose sweet sorrow for little things inspires immense affection. "Why", she asked him with her head slightly bent, just like a little girl who softens her pout to provoke empathy, "why can beautiful things hurt so much?". His eyes widened with a hint of surprise as he sighed in the shadow of a bitter-sweet smile. "Maybe because beauty belongs to joy as much as it belongs to pain, just like each harmony finds reason to exist only because of a contrast". "Why am I sad when I know to be happy?" she replied immediately. "Maybe you're not sad and maybe you're not even happy, maybe these are just names that you use like sheets to cover something else, something so big these sheets are not enough to cover with". She smiled, lowering her embarrassed look. "I love you", she said softly. You can still find her there sometimes, on that same bench, talking with her imaginary love. Her emotions are as beautiful as yours, if not even more beautiful, but, unlike yours, they will never die.

Tutto tace dolcemente - Everything gently quiets down

I have walked through millions of thoughts drowning in the confusion of refracted lights, but everything gently quiets down when you rest your head on my chest.

Il modo più meraviglioso di morire - The most beautiful way to die

--------

Slowly she danced, her gentle arms circling in the air, her hands with the fingers kept together in an unnatural resting position, like those of a life-size porcelain doll. Every movement seemed to draw the sound of a pain in the air, the echo of an unreleased scream, a silence of unbearably high volume. Each step the description of a perfect moment crystallised on the memories of too many hurt years. The pallor of her face faded into a martyr candour and in her dark eyes the shadow of a deep and irreversible eternal night burnt leaking in the light of her skin. I never saw a more beautiful way to die.

Una vita senza errori - A life without mistakes

--------

A life without mistakes is like a long sentence without content.

--------

Like closing your eyes in one single breath, twirling and falling, abandoning yourself in the warmth of a smile that marks the end of time. A breeze of soul that collects the caress of the wind on the neck of a thousand pilgrims, the shared fragment in the mosaic of a thousand lives, bright shards of rain that announce themselves from invisible skies and sing in the night the desire of the scent of grass covered with dew. And every me feels the call, fades in my skin and tarnishes my sight, while I fall asleep in a slumber that's deeper than silence.

Veramente vivendo - Truly living

--------

When expressing a feeling through words becomes an endless experience, you know that you are truly living.

Nel suono delle risate - In the sound of laughs

--------

In the sound of laughs that shelter sweet smiles which, slightly embarrassed, bloom beyond time, the sense of our adulthood loses itself and like children we playfully chase each other in a room, in the sound of sheets and eyes which open up wide, in ecstatic disbelief, between glances that smile dreamingly and songs that lay on melodies which dance following the rhythm of the blood beneath the skin, each drop tells the story of heart and life. Sometimes we wake up to find that what the mind tells us to be an illusion is more real than the comfortable shelter of rational everyday life which is now marvellously fading between visions and memories.

Non è il sangue - It is not blood

--------

It is not blood which I crave, but the gentle sound of your breath that tells stories of infinite worlds and desires that are yet to be discovered, and I want to guide you where everything hangs in balance, where a single step can break hell loose, where beauty is extreme, to protect you from the flames with my own body and gently whisper how I burn for you.

Ritornando alla sorgente - Going back to the source

--------

My life is a flame that burns on ashes that just won't let me go. A childish face with black patterns on its cheeks smiles back at me with a piercing look in his eyes. I know that it's a long way back to him, through lands of unspoken words and suffocating silences, going back to the source, embracing the pain of birth. But there is so much beauty in this journey and in the end my eyes will be amazed like the eyes of a child for I'll have an entire life to discover and a gentle heart to listen to.

Mondando il mio sangue - Cleansing my blood

--------

No more wailing of the wind crashing on the walls of the sky, no more branches like fingers whose grip is so tight that it traces rivers of candour, no more shrubs with thorns that scratch weeping lines of blood on the bare skin that steps into them, no more cold stars like fixed eyes, no more unexpected undertow that hidden by gentle waves all of a sudden violently drags in, no more greedy bite marks on the silky skin of the sweetest fruits, no more bruises that expand on the ground like bare spots after the storm has past, a legacy of an impetuous and angry hail, no more echo of the distant growl of wild beasts in their pride before the last jump, no more heat of the blood that leaves the tender flesh of an exhausted prey which surrenders to claws and teeth.

Cleansing my blood, I return to purity. Finding home again, before any stain. I never thought it would be so difficult. Accepting to be naive, to believe and feel despite all that my mind and my experiences tell me, accepting the feeling instead of choking it together with my breath and blood, letting myself go instead of holding tight to my own fear. Defying logic and self preservation to gently die and to be born again. Sometimes scratches are easier than caresses. I feel like I have to learn everything all over again. And there is a knot stuck between my heart and my stomach which holds emotions from being released completely. I feel like instead of being afraid of life being potentially an illusion, I'm afraid of life being potentially real.
